2nd Graders' Amazing Planet Books
Mrs. Carlson and I recently collaborated on a planet project using our new iPads. Her 2nd graders used copyright free images, their own illustrations, World Book Online, library computers and the iPad application Book Creator to create their own iBooks. If you own an iPad or iPod, you can click the link to download their book to your iPad iBooks app. This will allow you to view the book with audio. If you do not have an iPad or iPod, you can still see their wonderful work by downloading the PDF file (it will only be missing their very cute voices.) The 2nd graders, Mrs. Carlson and I hope you enjoy!

2nd Grade Dr. Seuss-Style Little Bird Tale
Click the image to the left to view/listen to the 2nd graders' first Little Bird Tale. The children wrote poems fashioned after Dr. Seuss' Marvin K. Mooney, Will You Please Go Now! They typed, edited and formatted their poems in MS Word. This style of poem gave them a chance to practice using expression in their voice when reciting aloud. Yes, you will find a few typos and mistakes, but overall they did a fantastic job!
Wild Animal Research
The second graders recently used World Book Online to research a wild animal of their choice. They had to read and listen to the encyclopedia articles to extract three facts. They then kept their information in mind and used MS Word to write and edit a short paragraph about their new wild pet.
